Wei Zheng is a visual researcher and graduate student in anthropology based in Xining, China. Working across photography, ethnographic research, documentary film, and collaborative visual methods, Wei explores how bodies, relationships, and environments are shaped through everyday encounters. Beginning with long-term photographic projects on young women, intimacy, and reciprocal looking, Wei has developed photography as both a relational practice and an ethnographic method.

Wei is currently pursuing an M.A. in Anthropology at Qinghai Minzu University. Recent research around Qinghai Lake focuses on human–environment relations, ecological governance, and multispecies life through participant observation, interviews, shared labor, photovoice, and documentary filmmaking.

Since 2019, Wei has independently developed projects including Centrifugal Force and Qingyuan. Centrifugal Force has been exhibited in Luoyang and presented at the 8th ABC Art Book Fair. Wei’s current practice continues to explore visual and sensory ethnography as a way of thinking with lived worlds.
